He alleged, “We showed the identity cards received from the assembly and were on our way to participate in the proceedings of the session. But the MLAs who were going to attend the assembly session were forcibly stopped. The officials said that you will have the identity card, you will be the MLA. I don’t know all this. But we will not let you go to the assembly. This coercive action is the murder of democracy. There has also been a breach of privilege of the members. Taking cognizance of breach of privilege and contempt in the case of forcible detention of MLAs, please take action and give directions.
After this, MLA Lalji Verma said, ‘The police force under the leadership of police officer Piyush Mordia was present at the spot. He was prevented from speaking his mind. This is a breach of privilege. It is our right to walk, cycle or come by car. Till 1980, almost all the MLAs used to come on foot. Till 1985, 90 percent of the MLAs used to come on foot. Sir, it is a matter of contempt if you are not allowed to come to the house even after having the identity card.
Lalji Verma alleged that the police force headed by Officer Mordia, should be directed to convert the House into a court and present it as evidence. So that no one can try to stop any MLA again. Stopping 110-115 MLAs is a matter of justification.
Senior BJP leader and Shahjahanpur MLA Suresh Khanna, while defending the government on this allegation, said, ‘First of all, the MLAs should speak the truth. No honorable member was prevented from coming to the Vidhan Sabha. It is not allowed to take out processions without permission in schools, hospitals, high security zones. 3 people from the opposition party had come in the house, how did they come. People had come in the form of procession, anti-social people could also come with them in the crowd. If you come to a sensitive area without permission from the security point of view, then it is not proper.
He said, “Allied MLAs of Lok Dal were not stopped in the House. No one stopped at the gate. The political agenda of SP was to be stopped. Why didn’t you take permission? No MLA has ever been stopped like this. If an alternative route was suggested, it was not accepted.
