Parking in the non-parking area or wrongly done remains a headache not only for the commuters but also for the traffic police in Delhi. This is the reason why the traffic police has done the maximum number of challans for parking last year, while the second number is related to violation of rules on one way. Not only this, despite the campaign for the pollution test certificate, a large number of such vehicles were caught, whose pollution test was not done. All these invoices were done on the spot. According to the traffic police data, last year in Delhi, the police issued challans of four lakh 63 thousand 732 such vehicles, which were either parked in non-parking areas or were parked in such a way that the movement was obstructed.
Traffic police sources say that in fact, this is the biggest obstacle in smooth traffic in Delhi. Although there were only two lakh 79 thousand challans for parking in 2020, but at that time there was a lockdown in most areas due to Kovid and very few vehicles were on the roads. Officials say that if compared to 2019, the number of parking challans has almost halved.
It is important that after parking, most of the challans are related to violation of one way rules. More than one lakh 23 thousand such challans have been done. The traffic police say that this rule is the most dangerous, because in many places people drive in the opposite direction only on the main roads. Due to which not only their lives are in danger, they also put the lives of others in danger. In terms of number of challans, the third largest number are for violation of pollution related rules. It is interesting that there have been continuous campaigns regarding pollution in Delhi. But despite this, the traffic police themselves caught more than one lakh four thousand such vehicles on the roads, whose pollution test was not done.
Only 3 challans for traveling on footboard
The least number of challans have been for traveling while standing on the footboard. Only three such invoices have been made. The reason for this is probably that the passenger buses have got gates. In such a situation, after the passenger boarding the bus, the gates of the bus are closed.
