Kanpur. Zika virus in UP has spread in Uttar Pradesh. The first patient infected with this virus has been found in Kanpur. There was a stir in the health department of the district after the confirmation of Zika virus infection in Warrant Officer MM Ali (57) of the Air Force Station located at Chakeri. After this, the Health Department of Kanpur district has collected samples of 49 patients with symptoms of Zika virus and sent them to KGMU for examination. The health department, which has been taking precautions since the first infected, is collecting samples of patients with symptoms of Zika virus. The department has sent samples of 258 people including 32 pregnant women to KGMU. Of these, 175 samples are from the Air Force area.
The district’s first Zika virus-infected MM Ali was having fever for four-five days, after which the family members admitted him to the Air Force Hospital. Based on the symptoms, the hospital management sent his sample to Pune for examination, the report of which came on Saturday. After receiving the report, there was a stir in the district.
Samples of those who worked with MM Ali and others who came in contact with him have been sent to Pune for investigation. Along with this, effective steps are being taken to prevent infection. After the confirmation of Zika virus in Kanpur, a team of experts from Delhi also reached the hospital. Also, samples of those who came in contact with the patient have been sent for examination. 10 teams have been constituted for the prevention of Zika virus infection. The administration is also taking full vigil in this regard.
After confirmation of the infection, District Magistrate Kanpur Visakh called a meeting of health experts of Air Force Hospital, GSVM Medical College, Ursala, Dufferin, Kanshi Ram Hospital. The team of administration and health department inspected the places related to the patient and steps were taken to prevent the disease. Along with this, the municipal team has been asked to do fogging and spraying of mosquito repellent. The District Magistrate said that Zika has been confirmed in the patient.
